Yesterday, we were sad to say goodbye to Lucy. We are so proud of how she has developed as an instructor, with our support, and wish her the best of everything for the future. Lucy Milford we are missing you already 💕Now THATS a send off!! Wow blown away by everyone’s kind words and generosity as I finish my last week at Vista Wellbeing. It’s been so incredibly humbling and emotional reading everyone’s kind words. Thank you Vista for everything, from what started as a phone call after having a cancer recovery client turn up to my class and not knowing what to do with them, to realising the importance of having specialist skills teaching exercise to people living with long term health conditions, from being a volunteer to becoming a phase 4 cardiac rehab specialist and Postural Stability instructor, understanding when to challenge things and say no when needed to protect patients/clients, it’s never been about making money at Vista, but ensuring the most appropriate individual tailoring was given to each and every person to keep them independent for as long as possible, some have come to class to very near the end of life ensuring they had the best quality of life right till the end. What a 7 years it’s been! The door is very much left open at Vista and I will endeavour to cover the odd holiday cover if needed and will of course see everyone at the Xmas party! Now it’s time to redirect my path as I start my PT journey incorporating my specialist skills where I can at Active Torridge, and of course teaching my classes there as normal. Thank you again Vista and of course all the wonderful people I had the pleasure of teaching, keep going!! I will miss you all xxx ... See MoreSee Less

Anita was in Glasgow last week for the British Association of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation conference. This is an annual meeting where the latest research and guidance is presented. Sometimes, the research just confirms that our existing approaches are still the best way.
Dietary advice can be a minefield to navigate, so it was reassuring to see that the existing guidance hasn't changed much and that the mediterranean diet is still very appropriate, as is the DASH diet, healthy vegitarian and exclusively plant based diets. You may not have heard of the DASH diet, so here is a link to some further information from the British Heart Foundation.

Prevention is always best BUT it’s never too late. Participants in our classes will recognise most of these exercises, and will have got better at doing them, experiencing less pain and improved confidence.

Food connects us across cultures — so let’s use it to build unity.

This Saturday 4th October, after the Unity March, join us at Sunrise Hub (25 Castle Street, Barnstaple) from 12pm onwards for a joyful spread of treats from around the world, raising funds for inclusion and anti-racism work in North Devon.

✨ How you can take part:

👩‍🍳 Donate a cake — traditional, family favourite, or experimental fusion, we’d love it!

🍽️ Come along, eat & donate — pay what you can, enjoy global flavours, and support a great cause.

Hosted by Sunrise Diversity with support from Stand Up To Racism — because cake tastes better when shared in solidarity. 🫶

To donate a cake or volunteer, message us or email admin@sunrisediversity.org.uk

The Vista team is passionate about the benefits of physical activity, and committed to making safe and effective movement available and accessible within our local communities.

The evidence in favour of physical activity in the treatment and prevention of many diseases is very strong, with new evidence emerging all the time.  However, some people, especially those with long term medical conditions, need support to develop a more active and healthy lifestyle – and Vista Wellbeing can help!

With socially based physical activity at its core, Vista clients can access specialist and peer support, thus reducing social isolation in addition to increasing health and wellbeing and maintaining independence.
